jereme is a malay. his mom is an irish. and his dad— —a malay. alisa is thai mixed german. her dad’s german. and her mom’s chinese. i asked her mom whether does she knows what kind of chinese she is– she said she doesn’t.
but they live in thailand, so i guess thatmakes them thai. i wonder what will jereme and alisa’s childrenwill be. irish, chinese, german— or thai or simply just— –malay. there’s more and more mixed marriages thesedays. eventually everyone will be mixed.we’ll be so mixed that we won’t be able to tell each other apart.which is darker, which is lighter. which is better, which is worse.which is right, which is wrong.
we’ll be so mixed that it’ll be impossiblefor us to trace who we originally are, or categorize ourselves specifically what weare, and then we’ll simply just be– –"it". it’s in our blood. it’s in our culture. to accept one another as one. to see each other as one,– –as what we are.
